I've got the same problem here (apport-collect data included previously). Issuing echo 1 > /sys/module/pata_ali/parameters/atapi_dma doesn't help. The cdrom stops working, any read/write operation fails.
I fixed it by compiling the kernel myself with: - disabling pata_ali (Device drivers/Serial ATA.../ALi PATA...) - enabling ata_generic as a module (sic!) (Device drivers/Serial ATA.../Generic ATA Support) Additionally I use a kernel option: all_generic_ide It does help. I'm including my kernel config. ** Attachment added: "kernel-config" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/35106639/kernel-config -- No DMA nor 32bits IO support anymore https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228302 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
