I also face the same issue. I am running 2.6.31-14-generic #48 in a Toshiba R600. lsusb shows: ID 12d1:1001 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E620 USB Modem i also get "error mounting: mount exited with exit code 32: mount: block device /dev/sr1 is write-protected, mount read-only....blah"
