Hi Daniel, to answer your questions: >Have you originally installed Jaunty, or do you have a longer upgrade path? This computer has gone through a few upgrades since it last had a clean install, I'm afraid - it was definitely upgraded from Hardy to Jaunty, and possibly more before that.
>As far as I know, update-manager should have noticed you about the packages it >was about to remove. Have you seen that? Or not expected something like that >to happen? :) Update-manager did pop up a list of packages that it said were no longer needed and asked if I wanted it to remove them. To be honest, I don't remember the exact details, but it's safe to assume that Enigmail was in the list and that I thought it had been renamed or something like that. Although, if the only way to keep a package that update-manager thinks is unneeded is to also keep lots of other unneeded packages, then that's a rather poor design. (Disk space may be cheap, but the accumulation of cruft is never good.) Sorry if this is a less-than-helpful bug report, I was rather surprised to find something I used had gone during the upgrade :-) -- Upgrade from Jaunty to Karmic removes Enigmail for no obvious reason https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/474857 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
