Attached is the Xorg.0.log (Karmic / atiradeon).

On Jaunty I used ati, radeonhd and fglrx, so I'm afraid I cannot give
you a useful log. By my recollection, ati and radeonhd did not have
(major??) suspend problems, but fglrx did until the latest two updates.

Some further info. I did some testing this morning:

Using ati driver.
- Hibernate wakes up ok (no need for Ctrl-Alt-F7), but after a hibernate, other
vt sessions (Ctrl-Alt-F4) show strange screeens. However, there is NO crash
report, and the X session (Ctrl-Alt-F7) is still running.

Using radeonhd driver.
- Hibernate works as above.
- Suspend is similar to ati. Needs Ctrl-Alt-F7 to wake it up, generates crash
alert; vt sessions show messed up screen but does not completely freeze the
system.

Based on the above, I will set the power manager to hibernate on lid
close instead of suspend. Wakeup will be much slower, but at least it
seems to be more reliable.
