I want to thank you and the Ubuntu community of creating a fabulous Unix distribution...I've fixed this problem by buying a new Radeon HD 4550 Graphics Card...I popped it into the computer and booted up to a beautiful 1910 x 1080 screen without any Ubuntu display changes. Impressive. However, this is a real bug as far as I'm concerned, since the prior release 9.04 had much a much better resolution with the exact same hardware.
I'll sign up for the Lucid Beta when it is available. No more Windows for me.
