Tried it again using the Alternate CD, but without any luck. Now did do some formatting (not the whole disk, but a 100Gb /home), to result in a failure to load the kernel. Still using NOLAPIC. Read something on LVM and tried to set this up, but this resulted in a very strange partition table (afaics). With LVM setup, the progress stopped after 33% formatting was complete.
By the way, the MB's chipset is 945GSE Express and not the quoted i945. Wonder if it may be something with the HDs themselves, but little chance that both have technical shortcomings. ** Tags added: ext4 karmic kernel-bug sata ** Tags removed: error -- Karmic Installation stopped / freezes using default desktop ISO https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/476468 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
