I would be interested to know if upping the AGPSize helps for everybody here, that is, use an xorg.conf with only this (on otherwise default packages of course):
Section "Device" Identifier "my-radeon" Driver "ati" Option "AGPSize" "32" EndSection The default size is 8 for R100/R200 and 32 for R300 and up.
