One other thing: With "Separate layout for each window" checked, you can SELECT 
(highlight) a Layout which is not the Default. 
What functionality is this intended to provide? 

The selected Layout does not apply to new windows (or existing ones).  Only the 
Default does.
So what does it to mean to select (highlight) a Layout with "Separate..." 
checked?
