I am keeping Karmic installed for now, on the hopes that someone will
look at it. This is a dual-boot, system, also I have installed Jaunty
9.04 on it to provide a stable platform.

The problem with the cardbus slot being unusable, along with the
messages appended to kern.log once a second, persists. Note that the
internal Ralink RT2500 Cardbus/mini-PCI wifi card works, while the slot
for external cards does not. External cards, such as a Netgear WG511T,
DO WORK under 9.04 on this system.

I am appending the output of `lshw`, to provide identification of the
hardware involved.
