Ok here's my experience then : I had regular update-notifications using Dapper beta. Now since Dapper LTS, it seems the update-notification does'nt work anymore. I still hear the typical HDD activity that precedes updates check every day, but then the icon never shows up. If I manually launch the update-manager and check for updates, there ARE packages to be updated, now if I don't install them and just close the updater, the notification icon shows up a few seconds after.
