I'm using Ubuntu Karmic, and I have noticed some PulseAudio problems as
well. The latest issue being on every restart, the volume is reset down
too low and when you view the Sound Preferences, it says applications
are using ALSA instead of PulseAudio for some reason. Yet PulseAudio is
still being run in the background. Is there a reason why PulseAudio
isn't initializing correctly? I have attached a screenshot.

OS: Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic (32 bit)
Kernel: 2.6.31-14-generic
Sound Card: SoundBlaster Audigy
