So, I tried running empathy again (2.28.1.1-0ubuntu1) and it now offers
me to import from Pidgin, so I try, but it just hangs, opening no window
and installing no icon on the taskbar. I obtained the following

If I kill it and start it again, it doesn't even open the import dialog,
but just hangs as above.
