Public bug reported:

A fresh install of Karmic results in no sound devices under
System/Preferences/Sound/Hardware on an Acer 9300 series laptop with
Logitech Clearchat Pro USB headphones. Previous install of Jaunty did
find both with no problem.

Built-in sound device:

Skype shows only pulseaudio sound drivers but does not make any test
noises.
