After updating Karmic I had to remove nolapic, maintaining noapic to get
it to work (referring to comment #11).

I also had some trouble installing Broadcom wireless restricted drivers
(it crashed and freezed on install) but I fixed it installing bcmwl-
kernel-source ( $ sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source ).

I don't know how and if it's related to the module options I had to set
and change above, just thought it was worth mentioning.
