Hi everyone I did a clean install of Kubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala 32bit. And i got exactly the same problem. In my case copying folder with approx. size of 3.6 GB brought the system to a crawl. Even moving the mouse, switching between windows was a impossible. Then i tried to copy using the command line (cp) but same thing happened. Adding the folder to a .tar archive had the same effect on the system.
