To enable a verbose boot, remove both the "quiet" and "splash" from your
grub line by doing this:
1) `cd /etc/default`
2) `sudo gedit grub`
3) change GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT from
="quiet splash"
to
=""
4) save the file
5) `sudo update-grub`
6) reboot and you should get more information
As for the boot being slower, I'm pretty sure we can resolve this by
enabling the ubuntu-boot PPA, but let's first see what the verbose boot
shows you.
