I tried booting (2.6.31-14-generic) with the kernel options "ro quiet splash nomce" and my computer still hung until I unplugged/re-plugged the monitor cable. I'm running 64 bit ubuntu 9.10. I've attached /proc/cpuinfo. Hope it helps. -Evan
