FYI, this all started because the newish gvfs-gphoto backend claims the
device, which stomps all over apps that used the old libgphoto APIs.
That wasn't really nice, but such is progress.

gThumb has been ported to use the new gvfs-gphoto backend, but it has
not been released yet. Keen users can check out the "ext" branch of
gthumb. See http://live.gnome.org/gthumb for details.

gthumb maintainers are not actively maintaining the 2.10.x series at the
moment.

This problem will go away with gthumb 2.11.0 and later.
