This is over a year old, so maybe not going to be noticed, but since it came up first in my google search, I'll post my situation.
I also want to have a setup that autologs in when X is restarted. I only have one user, so it isn't important for me to be able to log out and have time to change users. In order to get TV out on my computer, I have to change the xorg.conf file. When I'm doing normal stuff - i.e. not using TV out - I have compiz desktop effects turned on. But with my graphics card, I cannot have compiz on and TV out on at the same time. I've tried dozens of different solutions, but the only thing that is stable is to swap out the xorg.conf file and restart the X server whenever I want to do tv out. I've made this super easy - just click an icon and crtl-alt- backspace - but then the user has to login. Oddly, in 9.04, it would wait 10 seconds and autologin. But in 9.10 it doesn't, and I can't find anyway of changing it. I'm guessing that mine is a rare case, so I don't expect anyone to be clamoring to solve my problem, but I wanted to present a case where autologin when Xserver is restarted is a good option. -- Autologin and X server restart https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/18160 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
