The root error is:

This means that either the libavutil49 package is badly broken, or you
have filesystem corruption that's affected
/var/lib/dpkg/info/libavutil49.postinst.
Assuming the latter, I suspect that the simplest remedy is to run this
in a terminal:
sudo dpkg --unpack
/var/cache/apt/archives/libavutil49_0.5+svn20090706-2ubuntu2_*.deb
sudo dpkg --configure -a
... but in any case this isn't really a dpkg bug - dpkg falling over
here is just collateral damage due to breakage elsewhere. You should be
able to get recovery help from mailing lists or forums or similar.
