O.K. That seem probable, because it's the gdm image that appears. I removed gdm completly and made the changes /etc/gdm --> /etc/gdm_save too. It works up to now. Thanks Thomi.
I'm still using Kubuntu jaunty (9.04), but I made the change from Ubuntu (gdm) to Kubuntu (kdm) and that's why there was a gdm installed on my system. Well, during that time I investigated a little more about the graphics system and found that it could be something with RandR (definitly not the hal package bacause it's all about input devices - sorry, I didn't understand that.) My assumption is because of: if I use the raw xorg.conf with nearly no specifications about my graphics system, it works fine. No message about low graphics mode - but it's running in 800x600 solution on 800x600 pixels, means leaves a black frame on my monitor. I tried to modify the RandR configuration like in <http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/RandR> but the frame didn't disappear, I only had a bigger screen 'behind' the frame (like looking through a hole of 800x600). With the modified xorg.conf (s.a.) and the changes of /etc/gdm it works. I didn't update to 9.10 because I'm dependent on a running stystem at the moment.
