Hello,

This bug affects me as well, BUT only if I try to install the modem
driver from LINUXANT ( http://www.linuxant.com ) using their automated
installer.

If I try to force reload the ALSA drivers; its a no go - the terminal
spits an error which states (something like, from memory) "problem in
the snd-hda-intel.so module; see dmesg for details"

Looked in the dmesg - didn't see anything

Looked in the kernel log, found this:

Maybe the modem is deregistering the sound card?

FYI: this modem driver worked perfectli in Hardy and Intrepid on identical
hardware.
