Thank you for opening this bug and helping make Ubuntu better.
This is strange: once an email is sent, it should leave the Outbox
folder and be written to the Sent folder. What you describe makes it
sound like a sent email is still left in the Outbox.
Can you please:
(1) state what protocol you are using (SMTP, IMAP, etc)
(2) check if your sent email indeed is left in the Outbox
and we will go from there.
