One other thing, my laptop is connecting via a wireless router that issues it a ip via dhcp.
The desktop I'm connecting to is plugged in via a cat5 cable. So one is on 192.168.1.? and the other is 192.168.2.? Is this a problem? I can ssh at that machine from here. BTW, because of firewalls and subnet. Maybe it should be possible to allow the host machine to invite connections or something. The other day, I wanted to share my desktop with another Ubuntu user on the web. But because my machine isn't assigned a public IP, to do this would require port forwarding on probably my dsl router and my wireless router that are NATing. GoToMeeting and Loginmein.com don't have ubuntu 64bit support. Online meetings are still a struggle with Ubuntu, because I know of no third party services that facilitate these types of online meetings for Linux. I ultimately settled for conducting the meeting in my Windows 7 virtualbox machine. If the host machine could somehow establish connections with people on the internet, this would be great for overcoming the NAT and DHCP obstacles I'm running into. -- remote desktop viewer not connecting. black screen and no control over remote computer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/476988 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
