Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

As Matt noted in comment #6 it seems the error noted in your
DpkgTerminalLog.txt file is:

Unpacking replacement linux-image-2.6.28-13-generic ...
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-2.6.28-13-generic_2.6.28-13.45_amd64.deb
(--unpack):
subprocess dpkg-deb --fsys-tarfile returned error exit status 2

This type of error is usually indicative of a corrupted .deb. If this
is still an issue, can you try
removing
/var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-2.6.28-13-generic_2.6.28-13.45_amd64.deb
and then retry the update?.

I'm going to close this bug for now. Feel free to reopen by setting the
Status back to New if the suggested solution does not work for you.
Thanks.
