This type of error is usually indicative of a corrupted .deb. If this
is still an issue, can you try removing /var/cache/apt/archives/linux-
image-2.6.31-7-generic_2.6.31-7.27_i386.deb and then retry the update?.
I'm going to close this bug for now. Feel free to reopen by setting
the Status back to New if the suggested solution does not work for you.
