You are using Ubuntu 9.10 - the Karmic Koala - released in October 2009
and supported until April 2011.
Volume controller on main panel does not release focus after adjustment.
Once the volume controller is accessed via a single mouse click, the slide
control knob will not
release the mouse's focus after adjustment, and continues to increase/decrease
in volume as
mouse is moved.
