Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

This is a minor annoyance with Network-manager 0.7.0.100 on Ubuntu 9.04.
When I connect to my university VPN, network-manager-pptp fills my syslog and
daemon.log files with many lines of the form:

Nov 13 10:10:34 lee pptp[30953]: nm-pptp-service-30948
log[decaps_gre:pptp_gre.c:414]: buffering packet 48492 (expecting 48491, lost
or reordered)
Nov 13 10:10:34 lee pptp[30953]: nm-pptp-service-30948
log[decaps_gre:pptp_gre.c:414]: buffering packet 48496 (expecting 48495, lost
or reordered)
Nov 13 10:10:34 lee pptp[30953]: nm-pptp-service-30948
log[decaps_gre:pptp_gre.c:414]: buffering packet 48500 (expecting 48499, lost
or reordered)

Depending on the network traffic the message is sometimes repeated many
times per second. This a) fills up disk space (>20MB per day per file)
and b) keeps my disk spinning all the time. I don't know what is causing
the package reordering, maybe misnegotiation between server and client.
The connection is stable and the message does not seem to impact network
performance noticeably. I would prefer network-manager to not drown
useful information in the syslog. Is there a way to either suppress this
message or fix the underlying problem?
