3. I expected computer to pause briefly at ''john desktop login'' then continue
to finish boot up automatically without any input from me.
4. computer stops at ''john desktop login''as if waiting for me to input my
name and password which is futile as I chose ''login automatically'' when I set
it up and the only way it ever boots up is if I press the reset button and let
it boot normally from the 1st option in the boot menu which is not that
reliable since I upgraded from ubuntu 8.04.
