Hi all,

This is definitely a bug between the UVCVideo and USB Controller. I've
just assembled a new nettop based on Intel D945GSEJT motherboard with
Atom N270 and I have the exact same problem. I'm connecting a Logitech
E3500 web camera and not only the camera is not recognized but also USB
ceases to recognize other devices hot-plugged (keyboard and mouse works
fine if plugged in at boot). I am guessing this will affect all Atom
N270 boards at least. The problem does not occur on another PC I have
with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

The workaround for me is to plug an external USB port replicator, which
has its own USB controller, and connect the webcam there. If I do that
then my webcam works fine and I can hot-plug other usb devices on the
built-in USB ports.

Although both blacklisting uvcvideo (if you don't need a webcam) or
using a USB port replicator works, this is a serious bug that prevents
proper use of ubuntu, especially by non tech-savvy people. It should
then be marked of high priority to be solved.

Cheers,

Nuno
