Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: asterisk

The folder:
/usr/share/agi-bin/

is set owned root:root 700
That means, that when asterisk is running as asterisk:asterisk, it is not
allowed to read the files inside the folder, some of which include the files
needed to call other phones. Hence, you get some VERY wierd, and very
frustrating errors.

Some packages appear to reference /var/lib/asterisk/agi-bin/, which is
the default asterisk location (not Ubuntu package), so were also forced
to sym link that as well as changing the permissions on the folder. (We
chmod'ed 755, which allowed the asterisk user access, so suddenly our
system is working.)

** Affects: asterisk (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
