After some time of using PULSE_NO_SIMD, I noticed the rattling is still there, only slightly less in volume. That's probably why I thought it was gone.
However, playing around with PULSE_NO_SIMD on and off, I found a new workaround that works perfectly here. PULSE_NO_SIMD is not involved, i.e. off now. Instead, - Log out of the system - Switch to a console - Log in - Delete ~/.pulse - Switch to GDM - Log in - Open audio settings, see that settings have been reset to "stereo" (this always happens when ~/.pulse is gone) - Change to 5.1 - Try playing sound => Works perfect for me - Touch any of the balance / subwoofer sliders in audio settings => rattling back again Maybe some of the settings files get corrupted? I will try that next. -- Highpitched Rattling like Sound with 5.1 Surround Configuration on Karmic Koala https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/445849 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
