Just had this myself. Problem was caused by a bad download of the package. 
(Maybe there was a problem with this package - had issues on another computer, 
but they resolved themselves on re-trying.)
A reboot did *not* fix the problem. Instead I renamed the bad package then 
successfully ran the update again.

Here are the MD5 checksums of the good and bad updates:-
