Public bug reported:

I'm not sure if this is the right package for this, move as needed

I convinced someone to throw Ubuntu onto their system in dual boot with
windows. I choose the alternate cd, because it's more familiar. After
installing Ubuntu 6.06 Ubuntu runs fine but windows gives the contents
of the windows entry in /boot/grub/menu.lst followed by:

NTLDR is Missing
Press any key to restart

This seems to be quite a serious error for windows. MS's info is here:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318728 some tips on fixing it are here:
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000465.htm There is a forum entry about
this at: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=24952

Naturally my friend freaked out and now I'm trying to fix this.

Perhaps some kind of integrity check could be made so that Ubuntu
refuses to install when it finds such problems. Of course fixing it
would be even better but a bit hopeful perhaps.

** Affects: mbr (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
