I am also experiencing this issue on my IdeaPad Y30. In addition to the frequent panics and freezes, I also experience sudden reboots.
I've also experienced data corruption when accessing a file from the hard disk. When attempting to extract a file from a bzipped tar archive, I got a premature end of file. However, I was able to successfully extract from the archive after rebooting into a Jaunty boot cd.
