I can confirm this also with 8.04.3.
In fact having installed it on acer aspire 5920 audio doesn't work but to fix
it you have to add "Surround" track (and then enable it) from volume control
preferences (right click on volume icon, on the gnome bar, -> open volume
control -> edit -> preferences)
