I don't know where to start anymore...
I had 8.10, then 9.04 and sound worked (mind you ... a few problems, ran OSS
time to time...).
Now it is a real disaster. No sound whatsoever and my Pulse audio seems (??) to
be properly configured. Device is recognized at boot, drivers seems (???)
loaded but no sound whatsoever. If I open the sound applet, everything seems
alright (that is output, input, sound level, ...° but.. there is no
sound-device shown!

I don't know what to reverse anymore, I updated Pulse (also from
bqckports), put things back to Canonical Maintained. Nothing,

Off course, every utility, sw, ... plays beautifully everything,
including Skype, ... but no sound out of speakers.

Conf : HDA Intel Sound Card

I read a bit on bugs and todos but don't see what I should do anymore,
except format and restart... and then end up in the same situation. I
forgot... I have 4 pcs in the same ugly situation, a Toshiba laptop, a
PackardB oldie desktop, a Medion (clumsy computer ;) ) , and a Dell
tower. So I guess... that the issue is not hw related.

Anyone has a clue, and what should I report exactly?
Tks
