I had something like this happen to me just last night. Can you answer a couple questions so I might be able to confirm this?
1) Do you have desktop effects turned on? 2) What graphics card/driver are you using? If you could run "apport-collect -p xorg 483821" in a terminal, it will attach a bunch of useful system information to this report.
