Sergio. As you can see in post #12 above I've again run your command 'sudo
apport-collect -p linux 475500' as requested (without quotes).
Just to clarify. I run a number of versions of Ubuntu. The version with the
problem is Lucid Lynx. The installation was a clean install of Karmic, which
was upgraded by changing all the software sources to Lucid (using details
posted on the Ubuntu forums). The most recent update/upgrade was yesterday
afternoon (UK time) via the Main Server. Every time I've run you command it's
been done with Lucid Lynx running. I cut and pasted your command into
terminal. Included in the terminal output each and every time was
hook /usr/share/apport/package-hooks//source_linux-meta.py crashed:

The first time I ran the command, a Firefox window opened and 'Almost Finished'
was displayed but just sat there. The second and third times no Firefox window
opened and then terminal just went to the command prompt:
