Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

In november 2010 Germany's physical identification card will be enhanced
with digital functionalities. This new Internet ID card is called
"Elektronischer Personalausweis" (ePA). It will work as digital Internet
ID card with digital adress verification, log-in verification and will
have age verification. Moreover it will contain personal digital
signature.

Siemens IT Solutions and Services works now on implementing the software
framework into a Windows system and it won't be Open Source.

The German Federal Agency for Information technology security (BSI)
defined a software framework called "eCard-API-Framework (BSI
TR-03112)".

There is no comparable project for Linux systems. This should be
changed, because an Internet based ID card is the killer application for
the next years. Moreover, it is necessary that this IT infrastructure
computer code gets peer review by the public.
