Public bug reported:
Hi everyone.
I used to run jaunty from a single 1tb hardrive, when karmic came out i
thought it was a good opportunity to buy a second drive and install
fresh as a RAID striped.
so i have 2tb raid. i have the m3n8200 motherboard and i set to raid in
the bios. then when bios goes past an nvidia raid controller thing comes
up which gives the option to start a setup utility by pressing f10. i've
done that and set the raid to striped and made it bootable and cleared
the mbr etc.
then i booted the karmic amd64 live cd and did installation which went
fine. I then rebooted excited to have a new system in raid but initramfs
came up
and now i'm stuck there and can't use the computer. This is the error
message:
ALERT! /dev/mapper/nvidia_dcfadeef2 does not exist. Dropping to a shell!
i tried to install a couple more times but everytime it's the same... no
errors at installation etc, just on reboot i'm stuck at initramfs. i saw
there's a bug on release notes saying there are some raid issues and you
have to run a dpkg--reconfigure mdadm command but i can't run this from
initramfs... and i've tried booting livecd and following guides to
chroot in but i get errors and it never goes like the guide says and i
get stuck.
Please help... thanks.
