Do you have sound working? If you also don't have sound working, try the
following:
Open the file /etc/modrobe.d/alsa-base.conf in an editor, and find this
line:
options snd-hda-intel power_save=10 power_save_controller=N
And add "model=mb5" to the end of the line, like this:
options snd-hda-intel power_save=10 power_save_controller=N model=mb5
Then reboot your machine.
If you have sound working, but you don't have microphone working, then I
suggest you try installing the package linux-backports-modules-alsa-
karmic-generic and rebooting. If the microphone still doesn't work, then
work needs to be done to make it function correctly that has to be done
in the driver code.
