I just wanted to report success on a AMD x86_64 system with the rtl8192se chip.
Im using WEP encryption to a hidden ssid access point.
I am actually using Fedora 11 but google led me to this bug report.

It's a:  TOSHIBA Satellite P505D-S8960 AMD Turion II M500(2.2GHz) 18.4" 4GB
Memory
kernel is: 2.6.29.4-167.fc11.x86_64 #1 SMP

I compiled and installed the driver from post 81 above:
 rtl8192se_linux_2.6.0010.1113.2009.tar.gz

after applying the patch David Woo posted in #90:
 rtl8192se_1116.patch

The system has been stable now, I stress tested by transferring over 40GB and
left the laptop running all night without issues.
Previously it would crash after less than an hour. (the system would just
reboot without warning)

I do still see the following 2 lines repeat in syslog periodically, but
it doesnt appear to cause any issues.

===========rtl8192se_update_ratr_table: ff5
===>set to B/G mode

A big thank you to David and everyone else who has worked on this bug/driver!!!
