I seem to be having the same problem. I just tried plugging in the headphones and started a video and the static pop occured (but both on the speakers and the headphones). However, if I stop the video and start it again, I don't get the static pop again.
Also, if there is no sound playing, I get the same static pop (on both the speakers and headphones) every (roughly) 12 seconds. If I take the headphones out, it stops. If I put the headphones back in, it starts again.
