Latest developments: After upgrading with backports
and proposed updates enabled, every day, for the last week, the main menu problem has been fixed. It now only takes 1 to 2 seconds for the menu to appear at the initial click. Unfortunately, I could not tell you which update it was. Kudos to the developers!
