Ok, I did some experimenting :) Update: In the original housing, linux won't boot. It's a LaCie housing, including a bus powered USB-SerialATA converter. lsusb states: Bus 002 Device 002: ID 059f:101a LaCie, Ltd It does freeze during boot on Bus 001 and Bus 002, no matter if the additional 5V 1A power source is attached or not. In this housing, however, Jaunty did boot. Karmic does freeze.
In a self-powered (wall outlet) USB-SATA-converter, Karmic does boot without freeze. lsusb says: Bus 001 Device 004: ID 13fd:1240 Initio Corporation It boots on all busses here. If I can use the LaCie-converter without a problem with another SATA-2.5"HDD, once Karmic booted with the Initio converter.... strange... Just for information: the HDD is a Samsung HM250JI, Firmware HS100-08 Edi -- Karmic freezes when booting from usb hard disk drive https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/480558 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
