I can only reproduce this by scanning and saving as pdf or djvu. When gscan2pdf locks, I have tried to delete the scanned image and importing another pnm but that's not possible, I have to close gscan2pdf, open it again then I can import and convert the pnm. version 7:6.5.1.0-1.1ubuntu3 was used.
