I ran into this problem too. Seems to be in the gnutls plugin. First it happened yesterday evening. I use Ubuntu 8.04, todday I have updated my pidgin to the newest version. I have removed the ssl-gnutls plugin, and the problem does not appear any more. But I also cant connect to MSN, because it needs ssl support. I start it with 'pidgin --debug', it runs normally, until a message appears similar to the following:
(09:31:22) gnutls: receive failed: A TLS packet with unexpected length was received. (09:31:22) soap: read: Input/output error (09:31:22) xmlnode: Error parsing xml file: Document is empty (09:31:22) xmlnode: Error parsing xml file: Start tag expected, '<' not found (09:31:22) soap: Malformed SOAP response: (09:31:22) g_log: purple_ssl_read: assertion `gsc != NULL' failed (09:31:22) xmlnode: Error parsing xml file: Document is empty (09:31:22) xmlnode: Error parsing xml file: Start tag expected, '<' not found (09:31:22) soap: Malformed SOAP response: After that pidgin uses 100% on 1 CPU. I have dual core, so computer is responsive. I have attached 3 log fragments in one .txt file. ** Attachment added: "pidgin-log-cpu-problem.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/35848285/pidgin-log-cpu-problem.txt -- pidgin cpu usage high https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/420985 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
