My system also hangs when I disconnect from the network with an active nfs mount. For me, the file manager hangs and it does nothing to restart gnome. If I press restart, it gives me the option of killing file- manager manually, after which the system restarts normally. I would prefer if the nfs mount would simply disconnect if the nfs server cannot be found rather than hang my system and force a restart.
