So you had gtk-qt-engine installed... OK, think might very well have
something to do with it.

1. do you still have it installed? If so, did you update it recently?
Bug # 36256 states a fix to the issue on Gnome has been released as of
Feb 23rd, so the latest release of it should be enough for you.

Please note that -- if this is the case -- just installing the updated
gtk-qt-engine is *not* enough: you also have to perform some additional
steps, as specified in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk-qt-
engine/+bug/36256/comments/53

2. If you have uninstalled it, then please also remove the following
directory and file:

~/.gtkrc2.0
~/.gtk_qt_engine_rc

If one of the above options match your environment, please try the
appropriate one, and then please report back on the results.
